World reaction to the US-Iran ceasefire extension and Hormuz reopening deal

World governments broadly welcomed the US-Iran memorandum extending the ceasefire and setting a path toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Pakistan said the Islamabad MOU had taken effect after electronic signatures from the US and Iranian presidents.

The agreement reaffirms Iran’s commitment not to develop a nuclear weapon, calls for an end to fighting on all fronts, and creates a 60-day window for negotiations on nuclear questions, sanctions, frozen assets, and maritime arrangements.

Iran said it would monitor US compliance closely, while the United States emphasized that it expected a complete ceasefire. Qatar, Switzerland, China, Russia, Japan, and the IAEA all framed the deal as a step toward de-escalation, though implementation remains the central test.
