Birmingham 1-6 Brentford: Callum Wilson goal helps Bees into third round of EFL Cup

Brentford reached the third round of the Carabao Cup with a commanding 6-1 win at Birmingham City. Callum Wilson needed only six minutes of his first competitive start for the Bees to score, turning and striking from the edge of the area after Yehor Yarmoliuk won possession.

Demarai Gray levelled for Birmingham in the 28th minute, but Aaron Hickey restored Brentford's lead six minutes later. Nathan Collins headed in before half-time, then Mikkel Damsgaard and Igor Thiago extended the margin after the interval. Collins added another header to complete the scoring and take Brentford's tally to nine goals in two matches.
