EFL Cup: Hull City beat Stoke City on penalties to book third-round spot

Hull City advanced to the third round of the Carabao Cup by defeating Stoke City on penalties. The teams drew 1-1 in regulation time before Hull goalkeeper Dillon Phillips saved George Hirst's fourth spot kick.

Robert Bozenik headed Stoke in front six minutes before half-time, but Kieran Dowell equalised with a first-time finish on the stroke of the interval. Neither side found a winner after the restart.

Hidemasa Morita, Paddy McNair, Elliot Stroud and Liam Millar all converted for Hull before Mohamed Belloumi scored the fifth penalty that completed the shootout victory.
