West Ham United recovered from an early setback to beat Southampton 4-1 at St Mary's in the Carabao Cup. Leo Scienza gave the Saints a 10th-minute lead with a low shot from outside the box.
Joshua Ajala equalised shortly before half-time after goalkeeper Daniel Peretz misjudged Lewis Orford's corner. Ajala struck again early in the second half, Valentin Castellanos added the third in the 75th minute, and substitute Jarrod Bowen curled in a late fourth.
The result sent West Ham into the third round after a convincing second-half display from a heavily rotated side.
